I used to feel like this.
Meet me, 10 years ago.
I was a high school athletic trainer, I would sleep until 11:00 AM, go to work at 1:00 PM and would help student athletes stay healthy.
I dabbled around in the gym. I tried every diet fad under the sun. I bought Stakker pills from the gas station. I stayed up way to late, was blessed with great genes and was pretty untouchable.
This were about to change - in a not good way.
My dad died.
My mom was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.
I learned of a genetic mutation I had and all of the sudden I was sick and
I wasn't untouchable anymore.

At one point my schedule wasn't decided by me. My eating times for breakfast, lunch and dinner were haphazard at best. My sleep schedule was erratic. I "worked out" but more socially than with structure or purpose. Seeing sunrise was usually because I stayed up all night (Not a good idea, see BLOG). ​​
I was exhausted. And it sucked.

I was forced to dig deeper, figure out my biology, figure out the grieving process, all while taking care of everyone else and their injuries on the sidelines.
​
I will never ever forget the day that I decided that things had to change. It was the night before school was starting and I was crying telling my husband that I didn't want to go back.
​
I vowed to work as hard as I could to be healthy, happy and fully present. I promised myself that I would never feel that depleted again, I would take better care of myself, my energy, my time and that was what I wanted to teach.
​
I have known all my life that I wanted to teach and help people and thought that my time on the sidelines in Sports Medicine or the Classroom teaching was what fulfilled me but I was wrong. Teaching people to be good stewards of their health, wellness and aging gracefully is how I teach and help people.
My dharma is to teach and help people...
It took me years to figure it all out, but The Yoga Health Club is a large database on how I declared to take back my wellness by redefining health and how I can teach people to help themselves, where ever they are in their health journey.

Breathe & Move Learn why you sign when you are overwhelmed or stressed and what to do when energy is low. A body in motion stays in motion so learning to move through the aging aches and pains is critical to anyone's definition of health.

Self Care You might shower and brush your teeth but there are so many other self care habits that soothe and rejuvenate tired, exhausted bodies. We examine the 5 sensory organs and how to restore balance and energy even during the most stressful times of year
Core Theme 7
Reflect & Meditate Acknowledge that when you are always "on" as a teacher, mother or boss it can deplete energy and fatigue decision making abilities. Assigning time to think or a Mental Time Out is crucial to transition from work to play, to adapt to change and to weigh any important decision.

Get Outside We heard it when we were younger but maybe didn't pay attention to it. Plants & animals need it and we thrive off of them - getting outside to ground, receive sunlight and reset rhythms is the most basic approach to improving health and wellness in our office driven worlds

Play Challenging ourselves to learn a new hobby or gaining success over an assumed difficult task is the first way to build confidence and get "the other" part of your brain stimulated.

Hydrate You've probably been told how important it is to hydrate but why is it so hard to maintain hydration? Learn how to up the ante in your hydration skills and how to adapt water intake for your physical abilities
How does this work??
One of the best things about The Yoga Health Club is that it keeps growing with you. The definition of health is constantly evolving and so are you. As we grow, our wishes and dreams change. Many health programs offer a single focus on nutrition or personal training but we go deeper and deeper into your essence, your being and what truly makes you happy - and spending our time on these things!
I have added content each year for the past 2 years and plan to continue.
