First 3 Questions

  • Do you practice yoga every day, and if so, how do you manage recovery?

    • Interesting question. I practice yoga everyday but sometimes it's yoga off of the mat. My yoga is moving my body when I need to, not suppressing it because the situation is bad or I'm in jeans or a skirt. At a stoplight I will stretch my one hand out the window and grab the passenger headrest for some shoulder traction. If I am a passenger, I am often switching around my legs and stretching my shoulders. I love yoga for the desk/office! When out and about, sometimes I lengthen my stride just to get into my hip flexors instead of a full blown lunge.

    • I know the person was probably asking if I practice a full hour or 75 minutes of yoga in a studio or online and the answer is NO.

    • I do move my body everyday for more than an hour in total whether it's to stretch, strengthen, walk, run or dance - I just don't label it something specific or restrictive.

  • Do you offer beginner-friendly classes?

    • OF COURSE! I just finished up an Intro To Yoga Class last month and it was great. Glad I got the curriculum under my belt because now I can create a course for it.

  • How do you handle cravings or emotional eating triggers as a yoga practitioner?

    • I handle this in two different ways. First off, if I engage and actually over-indulge, I try not to beat myself up about it. Berating yourself and negative self talk will only create a hostile space for you to continue to spiral out. Make the meal worth it and give yourself grace if you over did it. Typically, I stall and try to make myself busy doing something else and within hours the moment or craving has passed and is a non-issue again. You'll see this with late night food commercials. People will get soooo hungry when they see a foodie commercial and then raid their fridge. If they just go to bed, albeit hungry, they're actually not regretful in the morning and whatever looked appetizing last night probably looks gross with a fresh perspective.

If you are looking for a way to learn how to set boundaries with your schedule, food choices or even more discipline with your workouts or time management, The Yoga Health Club might be for you. I don't know anything who wouldn't be a good candidate actually. In the Yoga Health Club we move from surviving and just barely getting by to thriving in our own bodies, our own environment and we take back and redefine what HEALTH is, together.
