A little late!
However, having a wedding that bumps right up to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years was poor execution to timely emails and blogs. No one told me that!
Several people have reached out and a few have asked the same questions so, without further delay, here they are.
THE MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTION: HOW DID YOU AND MATT GO "VIRAL", WHAT IS THAT?
Matt and I decided to write our own wedding vows and for me, this was going to be a piece of cake since I love writing, I was a high school teacher and I just love words (who knew?).
I thought this was going to be a challenge for Matt as, at best, he's a man of few words. He's more of a show-er, not a teller. Anyways, I kept reminded him that he needed to write these and it wasn't in his best interest to wing it or write something the night before. A few days before the wedding I asked him how it was going and he said that he was going to have ChatpGPT write them for him! I was appalled! I told him absolutely not, that's not going to happen and I would know it if he cheated. That was the end of that idea.
However, as I struggled with the direction of my Instagram Page that I dedicated to teaching I thought, let me see if I can crack this algorithm. I took an old video of me crying (years ago!!) and put this trending pitiful music to it and captioned it with "When you ask your not husband how it's going write his wedding vows and he said "great! I had ChatGPT write them!"
That was it.
Within 2 day it had 1 Million views and after that, it sky rocketed. Today is Dec 31 and it currently ha 15.4 million views. Since then, I have had three others go viral with over 1 Million views too! You can see them in all their glory here: www.instagram.com/yogitrainer
5 Commonly Asked Questions
1. It rained on your wedding day?! What was your backup plan?
Gah - I know it did. I had two little meltdowns the morning of our wedding because of this weather blip. It was sunny and 65 all week and on our wedding day, it felt like it was 45, grey, gloomy and rainy.
My wedding coordinators with Ash Events had a brilliant "Plan B" that we discussed the night before and months before that I was happy with. It wasn't my number 1 choice, but it would still be beautiful with the florals, my back drop and the newly renovated room.
Side Note: Everyone says it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day but come on, when has anyone wearing white said "RAIN ON ME PLEASE" and of all days, your wedding? No, thank you. It is what it is, but I did not want it to rain and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone either!
2. Give me the details! How many people, what was the menu, how was the food, did you have time to enjoy it?
Our wedding was as perfect as it could be. Matt and I built in plenty of moments by ourselves so the day didn't zoom by with no time together. Some special moments we arranged were getting ready together, sharing first looks with our mothers, digging up a bottle of bourbon together, hiding before the wedding together, walking up the aisle together, writing our own vows, several special songs, a sweetheart table, an evening photoshoot and a special artist abstract painting!
The menu was epic! Divine Dining did a great job. We had passed Shrimp and Grits as an appetizer and for the entree we had a fried chicken with tasso ham gravy, a beef tenderloin and delicious sides of creamed corn, mashed potatoes, a vegetable medley and salad. For dessert, Matt and I opted for cupcakes - full size and minis so people could have more than one! Jokes on us - we didn't get any at the wedding but taste testing them we knew they were good!
In total, 153 people were invited which was 88 invitations. 120 RSVP'd yes and at the end of the day, we had 111 in attendance which - works out ironically and perfectly if you know me since we got married on 11-11.
3. What was the last thing you needed to do?
I ended up not being timely with the music choices - sorry Ryan! Matt was out of town, we don't have "a song" and I just couldn't figure out when we needed 3 intro songs when it was just me walking in. Fortunately, my DJ is a friend of mine and I trust his judgement so he pulled it off.
4. What was your favorite part? Least favorite part?
I think my favorite part was all of the alone time with Matt and seeing the way he was looking at me in those photos. I truly am LOVED!
My least favorite part was the first part that I had to walk alone. It wasn't even the walk so much, it was waiting alone while everyone else walked in. Of course, I wasn't truly alone since the coordinators and the photographer were there. The biggest part of my heart up until that day was missing and he couldn't tell me "You're doing fine, Teen." There was no one to hold my hand, kiss my forehead, take the first step, or lend words of encouragement. I walked in alone because I didn't need that, but I sure did want it.
5. Any "woulda, shoulda, coulda's"?
If I had to do it over again, I would skip the transportation. We didn't have a bridal party and most of the out of town guests rented cars. If anything, maybe I would have made arrangements for an hours worth of transportation to the venue for guests. I would have totally been fine with a driver for the two of us!
I also would have "moved into" our beach condo on Thursday or Friday morning instead of Friday night when the chaos started. I still can't find my rehearsal dinner outfit! I was very disheveled and couldn't find make up, perfume, shoes, something blue - it was another small disaster that friends helped us with!
