First 3 Questions

  • Are there specific yoga poses or sequences you recommend for weight management or toning?

For weight management I would suggest attending Hot Yoga Classes. There are several franchises that I am sure you can research for your area but with the temperature, pace and strengthening component, weight loss is inevitable because of the detoxification.

There aren't really any weight loss poses or sequences - I would suggest practicing yoga on a fasted stomach if you are into or experimenting with intermittent fasting. I would also say that harder classes that are quicker and focus on more body weight holds would be great to switch the fat to muscle ratio, but not necessarily weight loss.

  • Are there particular herbal teas or beverages you drink for relaxation?

I love tea! I drink warm water over lemon all day long and love it for it's soothing effects. Gevalia's Peppermint tea is a favorite but it's a little pricey. PG Tips makes a great earl grey that's great to drink all day long! I also love the chamomile or the sleepy time peppermint chamomile tea by Twinings.

  • What should I eat before and after a workout?

I am a big fan oof working out fasted! When you eat before your workout you are fueling yourself which is what we were taught. But this is essentially using the food you just ate for your workout instead of actually using your fat stores to provide you with energy.

Post workout it's best to have high protein, complex carbs and healthy fats. For breakfast, maybe eggs, avocado and some fruit. For lunch, maybe a dense salad with chicken and some sweet potatoes. For dinner, maybe a piece of fish, green beans, broccoli and some brown rice or quinoa.

If you are looking for a way to learn how to set boundaries with your schedule, food choices or even more discipline with your workouts or time management, The Yoga Health Club might be for you. I don't know anything who wouldn't be a good candidate actually. In the Yoga Health Club we move from surviving and just barely getting by to thriving in our own bodies, our own environment and we take back and redefine what HEALTH is, together.
