First 5 Questions

Q1: Have you ever had Botox? How do you feel about fillers and plastic surgery?

I have had Botox before - I felt like it was a rite of passage when I turned a particular age (but remember, I am 25 for life!). I gave it three chances, the first time I hated it, the second time I loved it, the third time I hated it. If you know me, you know about my epic fall when I was 9 and since then, I have had a lot of dental work done. Because of this, an oral surgeon recommended that Botox could help with some parts of my face/smile I didn’t like. It worked, but only temporarily.

What I learned is that the face is incredibly strong and so is gravity. If no one’s ever told you before, gravity will always win. The face will always go back to it’s natural shape no matter what you do.

To me, it’s important to use treatments and products that are non-carcinogenic, non-endocrine disrupting and can withstand the test of time. Lymphatic drainage facials, acupuncture facials, Gua sha and certain face tools seem to help me more. They also encourage a routine and self love ritual in the mornings and evenings which either sets my night up well for a good sleep or gets me out the door on the right foot for work.

Here are some links to products I use almost daily!

Q2: Why did you stop Beautycounter?

Great question. I only recently stopped and got three messages about this! All in all, in order to be good at sales you have to sell the product and really put yourself out there. I am incredibly well connected and I thought that just by simple conversations I would be able to make a profitable income but, the industry requires WORK. With school, yoga, new home, etc, I just lost my dedication to the business aspect.

I LOVE their products and am still using them daily, I am a Band of Beauty Member, just like many of you are!

Q3: How are you always happy? Don’t you have bad days?

Uhm - first off WOW - very sweet and thank you. Second, of course I have bad days. Maybe you are just seeing me in the mornings before my days go to hell in a hand basket.

So - yes, sometimes I have bad days, just like we all do. Here are a few things about my good days and my bad days…

My bad days are usually because I am not watered, fed or rested well enough. This is totally within my control and I am always at constant work to start my days right and end my days better. Typically, it takes one thing to spiral out everything for the rest of the day and I have learned - this is a choice. You can stop the spiraling, stop the pattern and choose happy. We are wired for the negative reaction, the negative response, so it’s really hard brain work to see the good and the positive. When I feel the “Why me” coming on, I sit back in silence and inventory: where is this coming from, how can I solve it in a timely fashion, what activity can I do right now to forget about it that will put a new, positive spiral on my day?

Typically, I always have a few books that I resource for these moments. They are:

  1. The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo

  2. The Golden Present by Sri Swami Satchidananda

  3. Journey To The Heart by Melody Beattie

  4. The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday

Q4: Why aren’t you a doctor?

Well, my quickest and most concise response is - I don’t want to be one.

At one point I thought I wanted to - if you know me, you should remember this was around the time I wanted to buy a motorcycle. As I was taking prerequisites at CCU, I didn’t pass Organic Chemistry not once, but twice. I didn’t really want to take it three times. If you’d like to say the course won - that’s fine. I think I won.

I don’t like seeing people in pain. Turns out I actually hate watching many surgeries - specifically the initial incisions where the skin separates and the subcutaneous layers are exposed. I was on call for a previous job and that’s no fun.. So, I think my path is perfect and I am on my way to being a more experienced entrepreneur. In the meantime, I will still teach high school kids how to be young adults.

Q5: What’s your favorite yoga pose?

The one that feels good!

I really have so many. I think holding a 3 minute down dog is more strengthening and stretching than a 3 minute plank so I like to do that often.

I think a big open high lunge is one of the most complete full body strengthening poses there is. With everything isometrically contracted, you whittle and tone effortlessly to get the longer, leaner muscle look as opposed to the hypertrophic bulky look.

Honorable mention: Warrior 3. When done correctly, with confidence and structural bone stacking, is can feel effortless - like you are floating.

That’s all for now,

My heart hugs your heart, Chrissie
